| Bio: We are both from farm families. Bob's father grew up on a farm in Nebraska before coming to California. Shirley's great grandfather, Dexter Field, ran cattle, sheep and horses on the Coffee Pot Range. That's where their ranch got the name, The Coffee Pot Ranch. Bob and Shirley were in 4-H together, in the American River 4-H club. After high school, they both went their separate ways. Bob married and had two children, Toni and Eric. He focused his working career in masonry and landscape materials. Shirley married and had two daughters, Taran and Sara. They had a family farm in Kerman, CA with cattle and sheep, but the main emphasis was on the seed stock hog operation. In 1993, Shirley and her daughters moved to Lincoln along with the sheep, and cattle. Bob and Shirley renewed their friendship in 1994, and married in 1997. In 1998, they moved to the current location and began the Coffee Ranch. Now the farm has evolved and included hogs. Taran and Sara were active in their Lincoln FFA program with the livestock until their graduation, at which time they both headed off to college. Bob and Shirley continued the operation. In the fall of 2005, they decided to add another entity with the addition of the retail meat business. Coffee Pot Ranch Premium Cuts, offer a quality product with no added hormones, steroids, or antibiotics. They are unique in that they offer all three species, pork all year, beef, and lamb on a seasonal basis. Their product can be found at the Foothills Farmers' Markets, Persimmon in Lincoln, Blue Goose in Loomis, and Newcastle Produce in Newcastle. They are also permitted to sell directly off the ranch. Just call ahead of time. | |
