What is the PlacerGROWN Harvest Box? The PlacerGROWN Harvest Box is a weekly delivery of fresh, delicious, seasonal fruits and vegetables from small family farms in Placer County. The boxes will be delivered weekly, June through September, to convenient locations for pick up. We are currently delivering to county offices in Auburn, Sierra College, and Kaiser Rancho Cordova. The harvest box costs $25 per week. A minimum eight-week subscription is required.
Each week you will receive a newsletter with great recipes and farm news. We will also organize a “Meet Your Farmer” event where you will have a chance to visit a local farm and meet some of the farmers that grow your produce.
What is in the box? Based on availability we are planning to include the following products during the season: ap-ples, Asian pears, berries, carrots, cucumbers, eggplant, fresh herbs, green beans, lettuce, melons, peaches, peppers, plums, potatoes, radishes, summer squash, sweet corn and tomatoes.
All produce is tree and vine ripened, fresh-picked and promptly delivered to ensure maximum ripeness, freshness and flavor.
Farm-fresh eggs and locally-raised meat also available by special order. You have the option to add farm-fresh eggs and local meat including beef, lamb and pork. Eggs are available in half dozens or dozens. Call for details about ordering eggs and meat.
What is CSA? Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) creates a direct relationship between you and local farmers, and you both benefit. You benefit by having convenient access to fresh, local produce picked at the peak of ripeness. The farmers benefit by having a steady customer base so they can focus on what they do best, cultivating a quality crop. By subscribing, you purchase a share of the harvest, and you are with a wonderful variety of the finest fruits and vegetables each week.
